My eyes are beginning to blur over every time I read or hear the word Demagogue being bantered about on the political scene of late? I am now concluding that it has become the 2011-12 “buzz” word for ATTACK as soon as you see the whites of their eyes!!! Perhaps we should shorten the word to “dem” like a nick-name- you know how we like to get to the point quickly, Demogogues (Dems) – Leaders who obtain power by means of impassioned appeals to the emotions and prejudices of the populace. Well now, history has certainly coughed up quite of few of those pickles—on many sides of the political fences. However, I perceive the bantering, sidestepping, finger pointing, nanny, nanny boo, boo – stick your head in do-do school yard stuff to be so, so wearing and tearing on the spirit of our great people – our great country. Do we deserve hog-wash? I think not. We are worthy of so much better.
Let us get down to brass tacks, shall we? Far be it from me to even assume for one second that I possess any particular expertise when it comes to deciphering political jargon. At this point in my life – I do admit though that I spend more time attempting to read between the lines on both sides of the fence – looking for the “real deal”, if you will. My favorite response to folks claiming a political stance – if you are pro-America and pro all we stand for, fight for and die for and don’t sit on the fence with it - I love ya honey child. If you do sit on the fence – well, a swift kick in the hind parts with a long walk off a short pier is fine with me and I will be glad to sing God Bless America as you begin your brief journey.

In the mean time, I will continue my quest for the “real deal.” Question is----what the heck is my perception of the real deal? The leader or potential leader who steps beyond the pale – directing a hard line focus on desperate issues to be addressed – get organized with the best minds possible – look at all pluses-minuses with one thing in mind. Correct the problem post haste – don’t play games—learn from history, worry about the here, the now, the present and be damn sure you correctly judge how the decisions will affect the future in the most positive way. The buzz words are ‘DON’T PLAY GAMES’ at the expense of our country, our people and our allies.
Now I don’t care if you are black, white, pink or purple – democrat, republican, independent – get your hind parts in gear – wipe away your buzz words – get to work big time—together! Now – that is the buzz word I love-- TOGETHER. Has a nice ring to it doesn’t it? The world is getting smaller and smaller, honey child – anything short of working together is doomed to failure and frankly I don’t perceive us to have much time left for failure.
So – shall we dispense with school yard name calling my little darlings, grow up, hit the road with eyes on the prize – talk the talk – walk the walk together, together, together and leave the... you’re a demagogue – no you’re a demagogue – no you’re a demagogue, he’s a demagogue, she’s a demagogue-- yada, yada, yada in the elementary school yard where it belongs!!!
Ahhhhh And so the words of Hamlet (Shakespere) come to mind. “… to be or not to be, that is the question…….Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune Or to take arms against a sea of troubles, And by opposing end them.” Might be a good fit for the “REAL DEAL.” Only my perception, of course.
