Pop-up Book Fair at Martha's Cafe for Banned Books Week

Come hang out with Darling & a Scholar at Martha’s Café in Arbutus for a Banned Books Week book fair filled with affordable secondhand books, coffee, good food, and lots of bookish things to discover.

Browse books for all ages, including banned and challenged books, classics, childhood favorites, hidden gems, weird little finds, and books you didn't know you needed. Bring gently used books to donate and get $5 off your purchase as a thank you for keeping good books circulating.

We’re also bringing the DIY Bar, where you can make your own bracelets, origami, postcards, bookmarks, and other little creations. It’s $10 to make, or $8 if you donate usable art supplies to help keep the DIY table stocked. If you have extra beads, paper, stickers, markers, yarn, or other crafty supplies hanging around, bring them along!

And for the first time, you can fall down the Reading Rabbit Hole No. 000: Ridiculous Romance. For $15, grab a curated envelope of recommended  books, music, movies, and TV I consumed while being inspired by reading all the strange romance I could. Heroines falling in love with other people, places, and things led me down quit the rabbit hole for sure. A lovely little collection of things to obsess over when you want to keep going down the rabbit hole.

You’ll also find hand-painted notebooks for $18, handmade goods like crochet items, plus stickers, pens, bookmarks, stationery, and other fun treasures.

Bring a friend, bring the kids, bring all the books you want to donate, and definitely bring something to carry all your new books home. (We love a good reusable bag.)
