On starting out in the ice cream business: My parents own the store. I’ve been working here since I was 14. Even when I was little I wanted to work here. I started really young, running out sodas and orders at lunch. When I got a little older I started working behind the counter.

On working in the family business: It’s nice working for your parents. I feel like working here is fun. Ice cream is one of those things that makes people happy because you don’t always get to have it. And when families come in with little kids they are so excited. It makes me happy—like I’m making somebody’s day.

Favorite part of the job: There are some days in the summer when we have a line of people out the door…. I like being able to see that I’m helping a customer, and making sure that they’re happy.

Worst part of the job: Cleaning up at the end of the night. It gets pretty messy. The kids will spill their ice cream all over the tables and the floor so it takes a lot to clean the place. But you know, we do it.

What is the most interesting flavor you sell?: I think blueberry cheesecake is pretty strange.

How would you characterize the store?: Very family-oriented

Busiest time of day: From 7-9 p.m

Favorite ice cream flavor: Mint chocolate chip

So working here, you must eat a lot of ice cream: I try not to. It’s hard.

On the store music: We have an iPod with a lot of oldies on it because we want to keep it old-fashioned in here...My favorite is when we play Aerosmith.  

Dream job: I want to work for the FBI as a profiler.
