Man Killed In Lansdowne House Fire Identified

One person died after a house fire in Lansdowne early Monday morning, according to Baltimore County public safety officials.

LANSDOWNE, MD — One person died after an early morning fire in Lansdowne, officials said. The house fire broke out at 4:30 a.m. on Monday in the 100 block of Hazel Avenue, according to Baltimore County public safety officials.

Ryan Robert Cavin, 39, was trapped in the house when firefighters arrived, according to authorities. Six others were able to escape, including his wife and two children.

Cavin was at the top of the staircase on the second floor of the home when firefighters arrived and rescued him from the burning residence, officials reported.

Although medics tried to resuscitate him at the scene, he was pronounced deceased at St. Agnes Hospital shortly thereafter, according to public safety officials.

Investigators determined the fire started in the kitchen.

A smoke alarm woke Cavin's wife, who alerted her sleeping husband and their children as well as three others asleep on the ground floor. Authorities said everyone got out except for Ryan Robert Cavin.

Heavy fire and smoke were present when firefighters arrived at the house.

The fire was knocked by 4:52 a.m. after 24 pieces of emergency equipment such as fire engines and ambulances responded, public safety officials reported.

The residence was home to four generations of one family, according to Fox 45.

All the adults in the home had health issues that made it difficult for them to get out of the home, according to WJZ, which reported the deceased had previously had his toes amputated.
