Maryland Ranks As 11th Most Heavily Armed State
Wyoming is No. 1 in the country for the number of firearms; the least-armed state in the nation may surprise you.

Maryland is the 11th most heavily armed state in the nation, with 15 guns for every 1,000 residents.
Neighboring Pennsylvania is tied with Maryland at No. 11, reports CBS News. For every 1,000 residents in Maryland, there are 15 guns. That’s 88,732 registered firearms among 5,928,814 people.

The network reviewed per capita weapons data for all 50 states and the District of Columbia, based on figures from the ATF’s National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record, as well as 2013 Census data.
Only firearms included in categories regulated by the National Firearms Act of 1934 are included.
