Security Guard Shoots, Injures Partygoer: Baltimore County Police

An altercation outside a bar on Hollins Ferry Road Saturday night left two injured and charges possible, police said.

LANSDOWNE, MD — Police said a man tried to run over a security guard Saturday night after being denied access to a party on Hollins Ferry Road. The security guard shot the suspect, who has been hospitalized with injuries not believed to be life-threatening, according to officials. The guard was also injured.

Police said the altercation happened at 10:30 p.m. outside 15 De Septembre Bar and Lounge. The venue in the 3900 block of Hollins Ferry Road is located in the Lansdowne Shopping Center.

Authorities said that the 25-year-old suspect was angry he was not allowed into a party at 15 De Septembre, so he threatened other partygoers and then physically fought with security guards as he was escorted from the property.

Officials allege the suspect got in his truck and sped toward a uniformed security guard.

While trying to dodge the truck, authorities said the guard — who is not a police officer but has a permit to carry a weapon — fired a shot into the vehicle.

The suspect was shot in the lower body, and the guard was hit by the truck in the lower body, according to officials.

Police said the suspect tried to drive away but was stopped a short distance away by a Maryland Transportation Authority police officer.

The 25-year-old suspect was taken to an area hospital for treatment of the gunshot wound, while the security guard suffered minor injuries in the altercation, police said.

The Baltimore County Police Department's violent crimes unit is investigating.

The Office of the Assistant State's Attorney will review the case for determination of charges, police said.
