Video Shows Person of Interest in Cinemark Explosive Device
Police have released security camera footage that shows a person of interest in the homemade explosive device that detonated at the Cinemark theater in Hanover.
Police have released security camera footage of a man going in and out of the theater where a homemade explosive device detonated Saturday night.
The man shown has been called a person of interest in the incident at the Cinemark Theater, 7000 Arundel Mills Blvd. Investigators are hoping the public can help identify the person in the video footage.
Initial calls to police reported shots were fired in the movie theater. Instead, someone had detonated a homemade device of fireworks inside a juice bottle, according to Anne Arundel County Police. The detonation was loud enough to cause people to think a gun had been fired.
About 325 tickets had been sold for the 8:30 p.m. screening of “300: The Rise of Empire,” but the theater was not at its full capacity at the time of this incident, authorities said. There were no injuries and no damage from the detonation.
As a precaution, the entire theater was evacuated and searched by officers and K-9s. Officers found the device and collected it as evidence. A search of the rest of the building yielded no other device.
