Woman Robbed at Knifepoint as Suspect Asks What Time It Is

A woman was mugged at knifepoint in Brooklyn Park after a man asked her what time it was, then grabbed her purse. Police are still searching for the suspect.

A woman was mugged at knifepoint in Brooklyn Park after a man asked her what time it was, then grabbed her purse, according to Anne Arundel County Police.

Officers were called to the 200 block of Townsend Avenue in Brooklyn Park about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday night to meet with the 29-year-old female victim from Brooklyn Park.

The woman said she parked her SUV in the driveway, opened her driver’s side door and began to get out of her vehicle when the suspect approached her and asked her for the time. As the woman looked away to check the time, the suspect began to pull her purse off her left shoulder.

When the woman pulled back on the purse to prevent the suspect from taking it, he showed a folding knife and the victim let go of her bag. The suspect then fled on foot eastbound on Townsend Avenue toward Baltimore City.

A lookout was broadcast for the suspect and was also given to the Baltimore Police Department. Several patrol units from Northern District along with K-9, Aviation, TPU and DDU responded to the area in an attempt to locate the suspect, but were unsuccessful.

The victim’s purse was later recovered and she refused medical attention. The investigation is ongoing.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 30s, 5’10” with a dark complexion and short cropped hair, facial hair, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and possibly blue jeans.
