Charm City Fly-In: Remote Control Airplane Festival Being Held September 27 & 28

Annual Family Friendly Event Being Held in Southwest Area Park

The annual Charm City Fly-In is the largest celebration of radio-controlled flying in Maryland, with two days of demonstrations, airshows, and hands-on experiences for the entire family! Dozens of aviators from the Southwest Area Park (SWAP) Modelers will teach you how to taxi, take off and soar the skies as you guide model planes – some up to 10 feet long - hundreds of feet in the air. When you’re not piloting a plane, witness the aerial maneuvers of the skilled pilots as they dip, flip and bank their planes high overhead in a “Fun Fly Competition.” Between flights, kids will enjoy candy drops from the sky, and mini-training sessions will be held at noon and 3:00 pm each day!

The SWAP modelers will be showing off more than 30 hand-built, intricate, radio-controlled planes and helicopters powered by jet engines, propellers and physics.

Concessions featuring grilled items and cold drinks will be available for purchase, and will benefit Operation Second Chance. Three remote-controlled planes will be raffled on Sunday, including an Elite Turbo Timber Bush plane, P-51 Mustang, and an Aeroscout Trainer Ready to Fly with a flight simulator program.
