Multiple chances of rain and a few thunderstorms could dampen plans in Maryland this Mother's Day weekend, according to the latest forecasts.
After two days of showers, conditions are expected to dry out on Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Increasing clouds are possible later in the day with high temperatures reaching the lower 70s in the Baltimore region.
After Friday, several chances for showers and even a few thunderstorms are possible every day through early next week, according to forecasts.
On Saturday, showers are likely, with thunderstorms also possible between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Expect mostly cloudy skies with a high temperature in the mid- to upper 70s.
By Sunday, a shift in temperature will accompany additional chances for showers throughout the day. Highs could reach the lower 80s while rain is expected to continue into the evening hours.
A cold front will move into Maryland behind Sunday's warmer weather, causing temperatures to once again drop and highs to settle in the mid-60s.
Rain chances may also linger into Monday morning and will end as the cold front swings offshore. With high pressure moving in from the west Monday night into Tuesday, overnight low temperatures could feasibly drop into the mid-30s in some parts of the state, according to the National Weather Service.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 46. Light and variable wind becoming northwest around 6 mph after midnight.
Friday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 70. Light west wind increasing to 6 to 11 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.
Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 52. Light and variable wind.
Saturday: Showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 73. South wind 7 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Saturday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 54. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 79.
Sunday Night: Showers. Low around 52. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
Monday: Showers, mainly before 8am. High near 65. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 46.
Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 66.
