The officer avoided serious injury, and the driver now faces first- and second-degree assault and related charges announced by the Baltimore City State's Attorney.

Baltimore County school buses rerouted around Warren Road Bridge amid safety concerns (foxbaltimore.com) — Baltimore County school buses are being rerouted away from the aging Warren Road Bridge, even as Baltimore City and County officials insist it remains safe for regular drivers within posted weight limits. The bridge, owned by Baltimore City but located in the county, has a history of emergency repairs and a "poor" rating, fueling a funding and ownership dispute over how to pay for its eventual replacement.
3. Baltimore County wants to know what your water pipes are made of (baltimorefishbowl.com) — Baltimore County is asking residents to check their mail for instructions on identifying the material of their home's water service line under a countywide lead reduction effort. The county will replace qualifying lines at no cost and offers free inspections, test pits, and help from partner plumbers and inspectors. Residents can call, email, or go online to participate.
4. Hundreds of free gun locks distributed in Baltimore City (wbal.com) — Families across Baltimore City can pick up free gun locks through LifeBridge Health's Safer Futures program, which has already distributed nearly 800 locks since June. Health leaders say treating firearm safety like a public health issue is key to preventing youth deaths, especially when unsecured guns are involved in domestic violence and teen shootings.
5. Man convicted of sex crime involving minor wanted in Baltimore City and County (foxbaltimore.com) — Federal and local authorities are asking Baltimore residents for help locating a convicted sex offender wanted in both Baltimore City and Baltimore County for repeatedly failing to register. Investigators say the man, whose criminal history here spans years, is believed to frequent the Lexington Market area and is considered a public safety concern. Anyone with information is urged to contact the U.S. Marshals Service.
