Maryland will bake through another hot and humid day on Tuesday before a potentially stormier pattern takes hold, bringing several chances for severe weather through the end of the workweek.
For most of the Baltimore region, conditions during the day on Tuesday should remain dry, but storms developing in southeastern Pennsylvania are expected to move into northeastern parts of the state during the evening hours.
Damaging winds and some flash flooding will likely be the primary threats with any storms on Tuesday, according to forecasters.
Those storms are expected to weaken as they move south, making severe weather less likely overnight. However, thunderstorms could still produce strong wind gusts, particularly around the northern Chesapeake Bay.
Before any storms arrive, heat will be the bigger concern Tuesday. The National Weather Service expects Tuesday to be the hottest day of the week, although temperatures should remain below record highs.
According to Capital Weather forecasters, highs will be in the mid-90s on Tuesday, with a few locations potentially reaching the upper 90s. Combined with high humidity, it could feel like 100 to 105 degrees during the afternoon.
The forecast becomes more uncertain Wednesday. Storms could develop across Pennsylvania and northern Maryland, and the National Weather Service said some forecast models suggest a cluster could reach the Baltimore region earlier in the day. Thunderstorm chances increase again later Wednesday afternoon.
A greater severe weather threat could develop Thursday as a cold front approaches. Storms are expected to push south into Maryland sometime Thursday or Thursday night, and some could become severe.
Overall, forecasters said several rounds of severe thunderstorms are possible Wednesday through Friday along the Interstate 95 corridor through central Maryland, including the Baltimore region. Damaging wind gusts are the primary threat.
Meanwhile, the heat should gradually ease as the week ends, with temperatures dropping into the lower 90s Friday. Cooler, less humid weather is expected this weekend, with highs falling into the low to mid-80s and thunderstorm chances diminishing.

Thursday: A slight chance of showers, then scattered showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 92. Light and variable wind becoming west 5 to 8 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
