12-Year-Old Dead, 3 Injured In Baltimore Shooting, 'Likely Over A Stupid Parking Spot': Police Commissioneri

The shooting took place during a youth football game, police say.

BALTIMORE, MD — A 12-year-old girl was killed and three others were injured in a shooting over a parking spot in Baltimore, officials said.

According to the Baltimore Police Department, on Saturday at about 6:15 p.m., officers responded to the 1200 block of North Franklintown Road in reference to multiple calls for weapons discharging.

Upon arrival, officers located a 25-year-old woman suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, police said. A 12-year-old girl was also located and transported to an area hospital with a gunshot wound, police said.

While officers were on scene, two men, a 28-year-old and a 23-year-old, walked into area hospitals seeking treatment for gunshot wounds, police said.

Despite medical efforts, the 12-year-old girl was pronounced deceased by hospital staff, police said.

The three remaining victims are currently listed in stable condition, police said.

Speaking at a press conference, Police Commissioner Richard Worley said office responded to Leon Day Park after an argument involving grown men during which a 12-year-old got caught in the crossfire. "A 12-year-old little girl who was probably down there watching football was shot and killed, most likely over a stupid parking spot," he said.

Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott added: "Two grown men got into an argument and now a 12-year-old is gone. We should never have to say something like that. As a community, when are we going to get back to time when — especially with children and women and elderly people around — whatever your beef is, it has to go away for the day. What happened here today is one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen in my life. That baby is just out here for this youth football league, a league that's out here every single day trying to keep young people safe and on the right path. This is their homecoming. Two so-called men got into an argument and now this baby is gone," leaving her family, fellow students, and an entire community grieving, he said.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact homicide detectives at 410-396-2100.
