BALTIMORE, MD — A Maryland-based restaurant with Louisiana roots has landed on a nationwide list of the best pizza shops.
Angeli's Pizzeria was selected to represent the Old Line State on Food & Wine's list of the best award-winning pizza shops across each state.
In its selection process, the outlet sought pizzerias recognized across a variety of media, including major pizza competitions, reader polls, ranking lists, and local news outlets.
No stranger to the recognition, Angeli's Pizzeria has landed on the 2026 edition of 50 Top Pizza USA and was voted best pizza in Baltimore by Insider Magazine.
The eatery was also named the state's best New York-style pizza by The Washington Post.
Angeli's dates back to the mid-1980s, when it started up in New Orleans as a small neighborhood restaurant. It later reopened in Baltimore after Hurricane Katrina struck The Big Easy in August 2005.
"Little Italy gave us an opportunity to make what was once a possibility into a reality, and bring back Angeli's to a neighborhood as vibrant and as colorful as the one that we fell in love with all those years ago," the pizzeria wrote in a post.
"Like the angel on our restaurant's logo, we have no philosophy but love."
While the shop is known for its authentic New York-style pizza, it's also known for its espresso martini.
