Calling all Harford County friends of birds, butterflies, bees, and “bugs”. These delightful and essential creatures need our help. Every estate, yard, patio, or balcony has the capability to attract and sustain pollinators that are not fussy about dining ambiance. No matter how small your garden happens to be, it is a vital part of the nectar corridor.
The Harford County Master Gardeners encourage you to visit the Grow Wild
site https://www.growwildharford.or... to check out the application to have your garden pollinator certified. Keep in mind that the trees, shrubs, flowers (native and some non-native), and herbs on your property all provide food for pollinators. Check out the application which is a valuable resource for planning a pollinator area.
Upon completing the certification process, each gardener is awarded a free sign to notify the pollinators and your neighbors that you are open for business. The visible sign in your yard spreads the word about the program. Fall is quickly approaching and is an opportune time to plant native plants for next year’s customers.
