100,000 Dazzling LEDs Shine At St. Matthew Lutheran Church

There's a bright spot on Route 22 in Bel Air where crowds can see reindeer and a train garden.

BEL AIR, MD — St. Matthew Lutheran Church is lit up for the holidays. The 100,000-LED display that has attracted crowds by the carload is once again illuminating the church off Route 22. It is set to holiday music.

This year features new additions including 16 reindeer "prancing throughout the campus" and three 20-foot tall "mega trees" in front of a community garden, according to Jim Kurtz, who arranged the display with St Matthew Pastor Blaise Sedney and 500 volunteers.

The show runs from 6 to 9 p.m. nightly from Friday, Nov. 24, to Sunday, Dec. 31. From Friday to Sunday nights, a train garden will be open and the church will offer hot cocoa and cookies to visitors. Guests enter through a tunnel of lights.

This is the fifth year for the St. Matthew holiday light display. See it at St. Matthew Lutheran Church by entering on Churchville Road at Brierhill Drive across from Walgreens. Greeters will be there accepting food or cash donations for the church's food pantry, which serves the hungry year-round.
