11-Year-Old Girl Flees Burning Home With Pet Dog In Aberdeen: Fire Marshal
An 11-year-old girl saved herself and her pet dog from their burning house in Aberdeen. The fire marshal has ruled the blaze an accident.

ABERDEEN, MD — An 11-year-old girl has been credited for saving her dog's life and her own when a fire broke out in her home Thursday around 3:12 p.m.
The 11-year-old girl found the fire in her bedroom and called 911. She and her dog rushed to safety and waited for the fire department. It is believe that the fire was accidental due to an electrical failure. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the bedroom but soot and smoke damage occurred throughout the home, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
The one-story single family home at 519 Cornell St. in Aberdeen sustained $25,000 in damage and loss of contents. It took more than two dozen firefighters with the Aberdeen Fire Department just five minutes to rein in the fire that originated in the girl's bedroom, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

The little girl and her mother, Brandi Daughtery, have been displaced and are being assisted by Harford County Disaster Assistance and the Red Cross.
