13-Year-Old Driver Loses Control Of Vehicle, Takes Out Power Line: Fire Official

A 13-year-old driver who police say was speeding lost control of a vehicle and crashed, dragging down a power line.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A 13-year-old driver appears to be responsible for a crash that happened Thursday around 8 p.m. along Abingdon Road near Laurel Bush Road.

The Harford County Sheriff's Office reports that a vehicle heading northbound didn't navigate a bend in the road due to excessive speed. The vehicle then crashed into a major BGE power line. The driver happened to be a 13-year-old who was accompanied by Michael Ray Palmer of Baltimore.

Both individuals sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment. The Harford County Sheriff's Office has not yet released information regarding the relationship between the 13-year-old driver and the adult male passenger, WBAL reported.

Residents in the area were without power for quite some time. The Abingdon Fire Company and Harford County Sheriff's Office responded to the crash.
