14 National Merit Scholars Named In Howard Co.
Fourteen Howard County students have received a $2,500 scholarship in the second round of the National Merit Scholarship program.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — A second round of National Merit Scholars has been announced with winners each earning $2,500 scholarships.
The 2,500 Merit Scholar designees were chosen from among 15,000 finalists.
Last month, approximately 700 corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship winners were named. In June and July, an estimated 3,500 winners will be announced. At year's end upwards of 6,700 scholarship winners will have earned approximately $24 million in scholarships.

- Erin C. Alistar, Columbia, River Hill High School, probable career field - international relations, National Merit $2,500 Scholarship
- Brandon Jungham Jeon, Columbia, Altholton High School, probable career field - mechanical engineering, National Merit $2,500 Scholarship
- Jonathan Bu, Ellicott City, Phillips Academy, probable career field - undecided, National Merit $2,500 Scholarship
- Albert Cao, Ellicott City, Centennial High School, probable career field - mathematics, National Merit $2,500 Scholarship
- Qiao N. Fan, Ellicott City, Centennial High School, probable career field - performing arts, National Merit $2,500 Scholarship
- Noah J. Peng, Ellicott City, Marriotts Ridge High School, probable career field - physics, National Merit $2,500 Scholarship
