$150K Loss In Townhouse Fire Caused By Unattended Candle In Living Room: Fire Marshal
An Edgewood townhouse fire sustained $150K in property loss and damages caused by an unattended candle in the living room.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A fire broke out Saturday afternoon at a townhouse in Edgewood.
Firefighters were called to a two-story end of the group townhouse at 1714 Judy Way around 2:30 p.m. Sept. 16. Nearly three dozen firefighters were on hand and it took them close to 10 minutes to get the fire under control, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
The fire was discovered by neighbors, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal. An unattended candle in the living room was to blame for the fire. The occupant of the home, Azureat Seaborn-Pitts, and her two children ages 7 and 3 were not home when the fire was discovered. While firefighters were able to contain most of the fire to the living room, extensive heat, smoke and water damage occurred throughout the home, which is owned by Jun Shi Zhang and Yan Jiao Zheng. The property experienced $75,000 in damages and another $75,000 in loss of property.
