1st Mariner Bank's Ed Kouneski Recognized for Best in Finance: CFO Awards by the Baltimore Business Journal
The CFO of 1st Mariner Mortgage has been recognized as one of eight top financial officers in the Baltimore area

1st Mariner Bank, the largest independently owned bank in Baltimore City, today announced that Ed Kouneski, CFO of 1st Mariner Mortgage, a division of 1st Mariner Bank, has been named a Best in Finance: CFO Award honoree by the Baltimore Business Journal.
The Baltimore Business Journal has chosen the eight top financial officers who have not only demonstrated a commitment to the best financial practices and accounting standards, but have also had a deep impact on their industry, company and community as a whole. This year’s list of honorees includes eight top financial executives who work across a variety of industries, including financial services, healthcare, real estate, cybersecurity and more.
Kouneski has helped 1st Mariner overcome significant business challenges and milestones since he joined the organization in 2013. During the first six months of his tenure, the bank was facing a series of challenges including a cease-and-desist order, critically low capital, regulatory constraints and a bankruptcy filing. Under Kouneski’s leadership, the mortgage division revenue grew materially, greatly contributing to the bank’s turnaround. Outside of his responsibilities with 1st Mariner Mortgage, Kouneski serves on the board of the Community Foundation of Harford County (CFHC), and is also a founding board member of Baltimore Area Special Hockey, an ice hockey program for autistic and mentally challenged children.

The recipients will receive their awards on May 6th during a ceremony held at the Inner Harbor Hyatt Regency Hotel. The list of honorees is available online at http://www.bizjournals.com/baltimore/news/2016/03/18/here-are-the-2016-b....
