2 Arrested At Aberdeen Motel For Suspected Drug Activity: Police

Aberdeen Police has arrested two people suspected of engaging in drug activity at a local motel.

ABERDEEN, MD — Police officers uncovered drug operations at a motel in the 700 block of West Bel Air Avenue.

Detectives served nine search warrants at the motel property, which led to the seizure of illegal substances, a firearm and cash:

• More than 2 ounces of suspected crack cocaine
• Several fentanyl caps
• Approximately 40 grams of marijuana
• One Taurus 9mm handgun
• $6,849.00 in cash

Aberdeen Police arrested and charged the following suspects:
• Darnell Mitchell, 40, felony/misdemeanor drug charges
• Riyad Carter, 21, felony/misdemeanor drug charges and weapons charges

“This operation highlights our department’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding our community by actively pursuing those who choose to engage in dangerous and unlawful activities,” said Aberdeen Chief of Police Henry Trabert. “Our special operations unit’s mission is to disrupt those who are conducting illegal drug sales and possessing illegal firearms in our community.”
