2 Injured In Joppa House Fire, Officials Say
Investigators said the fire started behind the two-story detached home in Joppa.

JOPPA, MD — Two people were treated for smoke-related injuries as the result of a house fire in Joppa Friday morning, officials said. The blaze resulted in approximately $150,000 in damage, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
At 5:03 a.m., the residents discovered the fire in the 700 block of Brooke Court.
Approximately 30 firefighters responded and brought the blaze under control within 30 minutes, officials said, noting the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company was the primary responding agency.

The fire started on the back deck of the two-story detached home, according to the fire marshal, which reported the cause was still under investigation.
There was $100,000 in structural damage to the home, while $50,000 worth of items were also lost, officials said.

Two residents were taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where authorities said they were treated for smoke-related injuries.
