2 Men Rescued After Falling Through Ice On River

Two men were in critical but stable condition after falling through the ice over Gunpowder River at Mariner Point Park.

According to the Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company and the Harford County Department of Emergency Services, special operations carried out the ice water rescue around 3:30 p.m.. Shortly after 4 p.m., additional resources were called in to help.

JOPPA, MD — Two men were rescued from Gunpowder River at Mariner Point Park after falling through the ice Friday afternoon.

According to the Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company and the Harford County Department of Emergency Services, special operations carried out the ice water rescue around 3:30 p.m.. Shortly after 4 p.m., additional resources were called in to help, including Maryland State Police's Aviation Command, dive teams from Baltimore County and Baltimore City, and the swift water rescue team from the Kingsville Volunteer Fire Company.

Both men were rescued safely and taken to Shock Trauma in critical but stable condition, the fire company reported.
