Two people have tested positive for the new coronavirus, according to the governor, who said one patient is currently hospitalized.
MARYLAND — Two more people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Maryland, according to Gov. Larry Hogan. A total of five people in the state have tested positive for the illness, while 62 tests have come up negative.
Both individuals who recently tested positive for the new coronavirus, or COVID-19, got the virus while traveling overseas, according to state officials.

The Harford County woman, who is 86, is currently hospitalized, officials said.
"This person went straight from the airport to home, did not leave her house, and when she began to feel ill, went straight to the hospital for medical evaluation," County Executive Barry Glassman said. He has been in touch with the governor's office.

"Public health officials report that there appears to be no community exposure from this case," Glassman said. "In addition, there is no connection between this case and other positive cases in Maryland."
Harford County is hosting a news conference at 1 p.m. on Monday about the case.
The Montgomery County man, who is in his 60s, was briefly hospitalized, authorities reported.

Hogan said he would hold a news conference to update Marylanders on the status of new coronavirus in the state at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
"We continue to hope for the best, and actively plan for the worst," Hogan said. "I encourage all Marylanders to remain calm, but to take this seriously and continue to stay informed. We will provide additional updates tomorrow as more information becomes available."
The first positive test results in Maryland were reported Thursday, and that included three Montgomery County residents who had traveled overseas on an Egyptian cruise on the Nile River.
The new coronavirus was first detected in December 2019 in Wuhan, China.
Symptoms are fever, cough, difficulty breathing and pneumonia, resulting in anything from mild respiratory issues to death.
It spreads between those closer than 6 feet apart through respiratory droplets when a person who is infected coughs or sneezes and the droplets get into the mouths or noses of others, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Maryland health officials recommend hand washing as a way to protect against the spread of viruses in general, including influenza and the new coronavirus.
People should also keep their hands away from their eyes and mouth; stay home when sick; and cough or sneeze into a tissue.
