HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A fire that broke out inside a cracked flue pipe or duct work in a fireplace or wood stove caused a significant amount of damage to a Fallston home.

The fire broke out Nov. 24 around 7:20 p.m. at a home at 1608 Watervale Rd. Around 40 firefighters from the Fallston Volunteer Fire Company responded to the one-alarm fire, which took them about 20 minutes to control, according to the state fire marshal's office.

The fire, discovered by the home's owner, was inside the wall and blamed on a cracked flue pipe or duct work. The homeowner told firefighters that he was using a fireplace and a wood stove when the family noticed smoke.
