$3.9M Road Project Underway In Bel Air Affecting Traffic On U.S. 1 Business/Conowingo Road
A $3.9M road project has started in Bel Air that is impacting traffic along U.S. 1 Business/Conowingo Road. It will wrap up next year.
BEL AIR, MD — The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration has started construction on a $3.9 million resurfacing and safety improvement project on U.S. 1 Business (Conowingo Road) in Bel Air.
The project should wrap up in 2025, weather permitting.
The 1.4-mile project will include:

- Asphalt pavement milling, patching and resurfacing
- Application of new reflective pavement markings and traffic signs
- Repairs to segments of concrete sidewalks, ramps, gutters and curbs
- Upgrades to traffic signal system equipment
- Upgrades to traffic barriers along the roadway
During construction, single-lane closures and flagging operations will be in effect along U.S. 1 Business during off-peak and overnight periods.
