3-Alarm Fire in Pylesville Displaced Family: Fire Marshal

Investigators determined the blaze that broke out on Rocks Road was related to the fireplace.

PYLESVILLE, MD — A three-alarm blaze in Pylesville displaced four people, officials said Thursday morning.

The fire began in the chimney when a wood-burning fireplace malfunctioned, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

At 1:57 a.m., crews were dispatched to the 5300 block of Rocks Road, where they found flames through the roof of a single-family home, according to Jenn Chenworth, spokeswoman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association. Crews hailed from Harford County and York, Pennsylvania, to respond.
