3 Bodies Found In Fire, Homicide Investigation Underway: Aberdeen Police

Emergency crews were called to Highland Commons early Monday morning for a fire but found 3 bodies; a homicide investigation is underway.

ABERDEEN, MD — An apartment fire in Aberdeen was reported Monday around 5:30 a.m., but when emergency workers arrived, they found three people dead. Aberdeen Police now have declared the incident a homicide.

Captain Will Riber with the Aberdeen Police Department spoke at a news conference Monday and said the circumstances around the fire were "highly suspicious." The incident happened in the unit block of Roosevelt on the second floor of an apartment building there.

"We responded out here after fire (officials) received a call for a fire alarm with sprinkler activation. (Firefighters) made entrance into the apartment, at which time they located three deceased individuals with clear signs of trauma. Those individuals were declared deceased and we're treating this as a homicide investigation," Reiber said.

Aberdeen hasn't seen a tripe homicide before, Reiber told WBAL.

"This is a quiet community," Reiber said. "This isn't something that's the norm. It's more of an anomaly."
