3 Crashes, 1 Fire On Halloween Reported Near Bel Air

The Abingdon Fire Company had its hands full on Halloween.

BEL AIR, MD — The Abingdon Fire Company had a busy Halloween. There were three crashes in which someone was injured on Wednesday, Oct. 31. Two of those were dispatched at the same time.

Then, before the clock struck midnight, firefighters said they were called to a fire.

At 5:17 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31, officials said an Abingdon medic was dispatched to MD 543 at Wheel Road for a crash in which someone was injured.

At 5:36 p.m., Abingdon reports its crews were called to two additional crashes:

  • MD 924 at St. Mary's Church Road
  • MD 7 at Governor Court

Two medic units took people to local hospitals, and one medic took someone to a local trauma center, according to the fire company.

After the series of crashes, Abingdon Fire Company reported it was dispatched to a fire call.

At 11:24 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31, Abingdon said its crews were called to the 500 block of Edgewood Road.

Firefighters said they found a dumpster engulfed in flames and quickly snuffed out the blaze.

"Residents and visitors in Abingdon and the surrounding areas call 9-1-1 thousands of times each year," the fire company posted on its Facebook page. "We need more volunteers to help respond to them. Join here: www.abingdonfc.com."
