HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Deputies in Harford County have been called to the Popeyes in Edgewood three times in the past three days. All were for disturbances at the restaurant, officials said.

"None of these incidents appear to be related to the recent release of their chicken sandwich," Harford County Sheriff's Office spokesman Kyle Andersen told Patch.

"At this time, no charges have been filed," Andersen said Tuesday afternoon. "Popeyes has requested no further police action."

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office responded twice Sunday and once Tuesday for the reports of a disturbance at Popeyes in the 1000 block of Woodbridge Center Way, Andersen said.

In the first case, a woman said two men were fighting in the store at 4:34 p.m. Sunday, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office call logs. Afterward, the line disconnected.

"Our investigation and follow-up interviews indicate the first incident was between a customer and employee after the customer demanded a refund," according to Andersen.

A video shared on social media showed a man behind the counter charging at an employee at Popeyes.

About two hours later, deputies were called to the restaurant in Edgewood again for a different issue.

At 6:37 p.m. on Sunday, officers were sent to investigate a suspicious circumstance involving employees fighting in the kitchen, according to the sheriff's office call logs.

Officers were again called to the Edgewood Popeyes Tuesday for an incident that involved restaurant workers.

"There were no injuries observed or reported in any incident," Andersen told Patch Tuesday afternoon. Other than the first case on Sunday, he said the incidents were "between a supervisor and employee."

His statement came the day after one person was killed at a Popeyes in Prince George's County. In that case, one person was stabbed at a Popeyes Monday night in Oxon Hill. Police said the argument, which left a 28-year-old man dead, may have started after someone cut in a line for the restaurant's chicken sandwich.

There was a tremendous amount of hype around the re-release of the sandwich at Popeyes, which debuted in August. After the fast food chain quickly sold out of sandwiches over the summer, it suspended the item.

The chain announced the sandwich's return on Sunday when competitor Chick-fil-A is closed.

Fans turned out in droves, and an NFL player credited the sandwich with his performance. According to Bloomberg, chains sold out of the sandwich from Illinois to Texas.

Popeyes was trending on Twitter Sunday with the re-release of its chicken sandwich, and among the reports of mayhem at restaurants across the nation were videos from Edgewood.
