3 Schools Closed Friday After Water Main Break

Area schools and roads are closed for second consecutive day as utility repairs continue, Baltimore Office of Emergency Management reports.

BALTIMORE, MD — For the second day in a row, three schools and some roads are closed Friday in Baltimore due to a broken water main on Gwynns Falls Parkway.

Gwynns Falls Elementary, ConneXions School for the Arts and Maryland Academy of Technology and Health Sciences (MATHS) are closed on Friday, Jan. 15. They were also closed on Thursday, Jan. 14, according to the Baltimore Office of Emergency Management. Staff at Gwynns Falls Elementary were to report to the Professional Development Center, emergency officials said.

Roads are closed along the Gwynns Falls Parkway, from Poplar Grove to Evergreen, while crews work to repair the 36-inch water main in the 2700 block of Gwynns Falls, according to the Baltimore Department of Public Works.

According to WJZ, public works personnel had to let the water main drain before they could make repairs.
