4 Harford Sites May Be Hazardous For Swimming

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Before stepping in a stream for a swim, people may want to check whether it is safe or could be hazardous to their health.

The Harford County Health Department periodically checks waterways for bacteria above levels that are healthy for humans.

E. coli and enterococci levels are above the threshold at the following locations, according to the latest recreational water sampling results:

• Flying Point Park
• Kilgore Falls
• Hills Grove picnic area
• Wilsons picnic area

Mariner Point Park is below the threshold and is safe for recreational use, according to the Harford County Health Department.

The health department monitors the water every other week for E. coli levels that are above a threshold set by the Environmental Protection Agency, which indicates pollution is possible.
