$50K Damage To Abingdon Home Caused By Monday Morning Fire: MD State Fire Marshal

Five residents, including 3 children, have been displaced after a Monday morning fire broke out in their manufactured home, officials say.

Around 30 firefighters with the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company ​were able to limit the spread of the fire to the utility room and a bathroom in around 10 minutes. The fire caused upwards of $50,000 in damage to the structure and loss of contents.

ABINGDON, MD — A one-story home located at 4023 Sharilynn Drive caught on fire Monday morning. Three adults and two children have been displaced.

The fire was reported shortly after 8:30 a.m. at the manufactured home located in the Beechwood Mobile Home Community. The residents woke up to heavy smoke in the home and found a fire in the utility room. All five residents were able to escape the home safely, according to the Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal.
