HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A Churchville home left empty while its snowbird owners live in Florida for the winter caught on fire Thursday shortly after 4 p.m.
The home, located at 129 Wheaton Lane, experienced an electrical fire in the attic, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office. It took more than two dozen firefighters 15 minutes to gain control of the fire, which was discovered by a neighbor. The fire marshal's office noted that the neighbors smelled smoke then followed the scent and saw smoke coming out of the home.
The two-story home sustained an estimated $50,000 in loss.
