73-Year-Old Bel Air Woman's Fatal Stabbing, Teen Assaulted: Police

A 73-year-old Bel Air woman has been fatal stabbed and a teen with her assaulted by a man who police say knew the family.

BEL AIR, MD — A 73-year-old Bel Air woman has been stabbed to death while a teenage girl who was with her at the time also was assaulted.

Bel Air Police were called to a home in the 700 block of Bedford Road Thursday around 2:42 p.m. Once there, officers found Mary Catherine Bland with stab wounds. The teenage girl had injuries that weren't considered life-threatening. Both Bland and the teen were taken to hospitals where Bland was pronounced dead, according to police.

Officers immediately identified the suspect as Angelo Terrell Spencer, a 24-year-old from Abingdon who knew the family, police said. Spencer was found outside his home and taken into custody within 90 minutes of the 911 call for help, police said.

The investigation is in the early stages and remains active, the police department stated.
