BEL AIR, MD — Police said a driver was charged with DUI and speeding after causing a six-car crash in Bel Air Saturday night.

Victoria Jett, 53, did not slow down despite traffic that had slowed down or stopped in the 400 block of Baltimore Pike around 6 p.m., according to authorities.

As a result, officials said Jett's vehicle hit the back of the car in front of her, causing a chain-reaction crash.

Three vehicles had to be towed, said officials, who reported nine vehicles altogether were involved.

Jett of Baltimore was charged, according to police, who said she had been headed south on Baltimore Pike near South Kelly Avenue and South Atwood Road when the collision happened.

Police reminded citizens to drive sober and not to be distracted.

"The best way to avoid being distracted by your smart device is to activate the 'Do Not Disturb While Driving' feature," the Bel Air Police Department said in a statement.
