Here Are Harford County Schools With COVID-19 Outbreaks
There are 30 outbreaks of the coronavirus in Harford County schools, according to the Maryland Department of Health.
HARFORD COUNTY, MD — In Harford County, 30 outbreaks have been reported in schools in the last week.
Every Wednesday, the state health department releases a list of K-12 schools with outbreaks of COVID-19. The data does not include child care facilities or higher education institutions.
Six public schools and three private schools in Harford County have reported outbreaks for the week ending Sept. 29, according to the Maryland Department of Health.

To be reported in the list, a school must have a classroom/cohort outbreak or a school-wide outbreak, according to the Maryland Department of Health.
A classroom/cohort outbreak is defined as at least two confirmed cases of COVID-19 within 14 days that are epidemiologically linked, and are not household contacts.

A schoolwide outbreak is defined as at least three classrooms or cohorts with cases from separate households in 14 days; or 5 percent of unrelated students, teachers or staff (at least 10 who are unrelated) having tested positive for COVID-19 within a two-week period.
Here is the latest on coronavirus outbreaks in Harford schools from the state:
Harford County Public Schools
- Deerfield Elementary School: 2
- Dublin Elementary School: 2
- Harford Technical High School: 4
- Havre de Grace Elementary School: 6
- Joppatowne Elementary School: 4
- Joppatowne High School: 2
Harford County Private Schools
- Harford Day School: 2
- St. Margaret Middle School: 3
- St. Margaret School: 5
Schools will be removed from the list maintained by the Maryland Department of Health when 14 days have passed without any new cases or tests pending.
This week some changes took effect in Harford County Public Schools as far as coronavirus protocols.
Quarantine periods were shortened from 14 to 10 days starting Tuesday, Sept. 28, and contact tracing efforts have narrowed to hone in on siblings and periods like meals and athletics when students are unmasked.
