AAA Mid-Atlantic Opens Car Care Center In Abingdon
The new car care center in Abingdon opens on Monday, Nov. 5.

ABINGDON, MD — AAA Mid-Atlantic opened its newest facility in Maryland on Monday, Nov. 5. The roadside assistance company now offers service for keeping vehicles in top shape at the AAA Abingdon Car Care Insurance and Travel Center.
Located off Emmorton Road, the car care center will be a "one-stop shop for automotive repair, travel and insurance," AAA’s Car Care District Director Chris Storms said in a statement.
The nearly 9,000-square-foot facility was built on vacant land next to The Boulevard at Box Hill for about $2.2 million, according to a statement from AAA Mid-Atlantic.

In addition to tag and title services, AAA Mid-Atlantic in Abingdon will offer maintenance, diagnostics, tune-ups and repairs for brakes, tires, batteries, air conditioning and cooling and electrical systems.
"With the Thanksgiving holiday travel period just weeks away, the Car Care Center [is] a timely addition for pre-road trip vehicle checkups and travel preparation," Storms said in a statement.

These are the automotive services offered by AAA Car Care Insurance and Travel Centers:
- Diagnostics
- Air conditioning and cooling
- Electrical system diagnosis
- Tune-ups and maintenance
- Battery service and replacement
- Oil change, filter change
- Coolant flush
- Transmission flush
- Power steering flush
- Four wheel alignments
- Differential service
- Repairs on tires, brakes and more
- Tire sales
- Tire rotations and balance
- Standard and ABS brake service
- Clean and adjust drum brakes
- Brake system flush
- Expert brake diagnosis, service and replacement
- Auto glass replacement and repair
Eight automotive bays and 20 employees will be available to help people take care of their vehicles at the Abingdon car care center.
The center and its services are available to those who are not members of AAA, officials said, but members will receive a 10 percent discount on labor costs.
There are now 39 AAA Car Care Insurance and Travel Centers in Maryland, Delaware, Washington, D.C., New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Officials said the first opened in Frederick in 2011.
AAA has locations in Annapolis, Brandywine, Columbia, Crofton, Frederick, Gaithersburg, Glen Burnie, Laurel, Rockville, Timonium, Towson and White Marsh.
As it prepared to open in Abingdon, AAA Mid-Atlantic reported that it closed its retail office in Bel Air on Friday, Nov. 2.
For those who need help getting to or from the Abingdon location, the company has partnered with Lyft to offer complimentary Lyft rides. The store can schedule the transportation; people do not need to have the Lyft app. All 13 Maryland AAA car care locations offer free Lyft service to customers.

Hours are Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.-7 p.m.; Saturday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
