Abingdon Dealership Celebrated as 'Example to All Maryland Businesses': Comptroller

Boyle Buick GMC on Emmorton Road got kudos from state official.

Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot motored from Annapolis to Harford County this week, where he made a special stop in Abingdon to recognize a family-owned car dealership.

Franchot presented a proclamation Thursday afternoon to the Boyle family, which has run Boyle Buick GMC for nearly 50 years.

Founded in 1968 by the late Clarence Boyle, the Buick business was located in Perryman and moved to its location on Emmorton Road/MD Route 924, where it also added GMC to its offerings, in 1977, according to Boyle.

The business is exceptional in that it supports many local charities, according to Franchot, who listed some other reasons for the recognition.

His proclamation said the following: “In celebration of your excellent service to patrons throughout the area, with special appreciation for keeping cars and customers on the move since 1968. With my sincerest gratitude for your commitment to improving the community and for serving as an example to all Maryland businesses. Best wishes for continued growth, success and prosperity.”
