Abingdon EMT Jim Weaver Dies at 68

'Jim was a quiet, consummate professional.' —Abingdon Fire Company

Retired Major Jim Weaver, who has served as a first responder in Abingdon and Bel Air, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 4. He was 68.

“Jim was a quiet, consummate professional who was always willing to lend a hand at events and offer words of wisdom and guidance to members old and new,” the Abingdon Fire Company said in a statement on his passing.

According to the Abingdon Fire Company, Weaver spent one to two nights a week at the station and served as an EMT with the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company previously.

He is survived by many loving relatives, according to his obituary.

Visitation with family and friends will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, at Schimunek Funeral Home, 610 West MacPhail Road in Bel Air.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Fallston United Presbyterian Church, 600 Fallston Road in Fallston.

Interment will be at Bel Air Memorial Gardens, 809 Rock Spring Road in Bel Air.

In lieu of flowers, donations may go to the Abingdon Fire Company, 3306 Abingdon Road in Abingdon.
