One suspect was charged, while others fled the scene, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.

One man has been charged and at least two other suspects are at large in connection with a home invasion Tuesday night in Abingdon, according to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.

Joshua D. Pruitt, 29, of the 2100 block of Nuttal Avenue in Edgewood, faces multiple charges—including burglary, robbery, false imprisonment and drug possession, among others—after deputies found him inside the Abingdon home, the sheriff’s office said.

At 11:30 p.m., deputies responded to the 3100 block of White Oak Drive, where a disturbance had been reported, according to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.

A 26-year-old man ran toward the patrol car and told deputies he had stepped out upon hearing a noise when multiple men charged at him and then stormed inside, forcing him outside the residence, the sheriff’s office reported. He had been detained by one of the suspected outdoors but broke free when police arrived, according to Detective Robert Burns of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim told deputies that a 24-year-old woman remained inside, and deputies went in and took one suspect into custody, the report said. At least two other suspects got away, according to the report, which said officials searched the area but could not find them.

According to the sheriff’s office, the incident was likely targeted. “...these situations are rarely random in nature,” Burns told Patch.

Deputies continue search for the additional suspects. Anyone with information may contact Detective C. Sergent at 410-836-5428.

Pruitt was taken to the Harford County Detention Center and charged with first-degree burglary, robbery, false imprisonment, possession of marijuana, two counts of malicious destruction of property and two counts of second-degree assault, according to online court records.
