The repairman was working on his coffee at Royal Farms when he bought his winning lotto ticket.

A repairman who lives near Abingdon was the first person to win the new Holiday Riches scratch-off game, according to the Maryland Lottery. He won $50,000.

The 38-year-old, who repairs appliances across the state, says he plans to use the money to make mortgage payments, increase his savings and upgrade the seats he and his sister have for a concert featuring members of the Grateful Dead. He said he and his sister are "Deadheads."

He purchased the $5 ticket while getting his coffee at the Royal Farms in the 3200 block of Jarrettsville Pike in Monkton, which will be awarded $500 for selling a winner.
