Patterson Mill Threat: More Deputies To Be At School, HCSO Says

Investigators identified the suspect in the threat concerning Patterson Mill, the Harford County Sheriff's Office reported.

BEL AIR, MD — Patterson Mill will have extra deputies on campus Thursday, Dec. 13, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office. Authorities said the increased law enforcement presence at Patterson Mill Middle High School was related to a social media threat.

The suspect in the case was taken for a medical evaluation, officials reported on Wednesday, Dec. 12.

"Out of an abundance of caution, additional Sheriff’s Office deputies will be on school grounds tomorrow," the Harford County Sheriff's Office advised on Wednesday, Dec. 12.

The state of Maryland launched a tip line in October so students, family members, parents, teachers, administrators and other community members can anonymously report issues that point to potential violence in schools.

Trained technicians from the Maryland Emergency Management Agency will respond to reports 24/7. Then the tips will be assigned to local school safety personnel to take action.
