Air Quality Alert Issued For Baltimore Metro Area

A code orange air quality alert has been issued for Monday, Aug. 6.

BALTIMORE, MD — A code orange air quality alert has been issued for the Baltimore metropolitan area on Monday, Aug. 6. The alert means that pollution concentrations may be unhealthy for sensitive groups.

Children, older adults, heart/lung disease sufferers and asthmatics are considered sensitive; they should avoid strenuous activity and outdoor exercise Monday to minimize the effects from the air quality, according to the Maryland Department of the Environment, which issued the alert.

The code orange air quality alert applies to Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford and Howard counties as well as Baltimore City.

Warm temperatures are in the forecast, with high temps in the low 90s on Monday.
