BEL AIR, MD — Police are crediting camera footage for the quick arrest of a man who they say tried to kidnap a girl recently in Bel Air, according to WMAR-2 News.
Christopher Jene Lane, 32, of Conowingo, was arrested June 29 and charged with attempted kidnapping, attempted kidnapping of a child under 16, and attempted false imprisonment, police said, adding that Lane was being held without bond.
Lane grabbed the girl forcefully by the neck, startling her, and causing her to scream and run away on the afternoon of June 27 in the area of Majors Choice Drive, according to WMAR.
Authorities relied on doorbell cameras and cell tower data in their investigation, the outlet reported.
"They immediately began scouring the neighborhood looking for surveillance footage,” Chief Charles Moore told WMAR. "And lo and behold, they found one residence that had some very grainy footage, kind of captured most of the incident.”
