Small Fire Breaks Out At Conrad's Seafood Restaurant In Abingdon

ABINGDON, MD — Firefighters were called to Conrad's Seafood Restaurant in Abingdon late Sunday night after receiving reports of smoke coming from the eaves of the eatery.

The Abingdon Fire Company was called to Conrad's, located at 3414 Merchant Blvd., for a report of a fire around 11 p.m. Firefighters with the Joppa Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company also arrived to help.

Crews opened up the roof and checked for an extension of the fire, which was quickly extinguished.

The restaurant posted on Facebook Monday morning that it had experienced a minor issue involving the flue from their boiler that caused the fire.

"Out of an abundance of caution, the fire department was called and the situation was quickly handled. Most importantly, everyone is safe, there was minor damage and business will resume as normal today. A huge thank you to our local firefighters for their incredibly quick response and for making sure everything was safe and secure. We are very grateful for all that you do for our community. Thank you to everyone who reached out to check on us," the restaurant stated.
