HARFORD COUNTY, MD — County health department officials are warning residents that they've received reports of unlicensed mobile food trucks selling menu items in parks and neighborhoods across Harford County.
"We want to make the public aware that any mobile food truck operating in Harford County needs to be licensed and inspected by the Harford County Health Department," the county stated.
Sarah Will with the Harford County Health Department told Patch that each complaint the health department has received regarding the unlicensed food trucks has been documented and investigated.
"Upon investigation, this department will take the appropriate action if deemed necessary," Will said.
Every mobile food truck should have a license issued by the county health department that needs to be posted in a conspicuous location for the public to view, Will told Patch.
"If residents do not see the food facility license, they should ask the food truck operator to present their license," Will said. "The health department's main concern is public safety. Purchasing food products from an unlicensed mobile food truck puts consumers at risk. Our inspectors here at the health department closely evaluate critical food safety items during an inspection, which must be followed to reduce the incidence of food-related illness."
