Over-the-counter and prescription medications will be accepted, along with vitamins and pet medications. The drop-off is anonymous and no questions will be asked.
"National Drug Take Back Day is an easy and effective way to help keep our families and neighborhoods safe," Harford County Executive Bob Cassilly said. "I encourage everyone to take a few minutes to gather any unused or expired medications and bring them to one of these convenient drop-off locations to take advantage of this free service."
Harford County's Office of Drug Control Policy is coordinating the event in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration, local law enforcement agencies and Wegmans Food Market.
Since 2013, Harford County has collected and destroyed more than 58,099 pounds of unwanted medications, according to county officials.
Nationally, prescription drug take-back efforts have collected more than 21 million pounds, or about 10,517 tons, of expired, unused and unwanted medications over the past 30 years.
