Dr. Stephen L. Godwin Celebrates Ten Years at Bel Air Orthodontics

Dr. Stephen L. Godwin and his staff are celebrating a major milestone—his ten year anniversary at Bel Air Orthodontics.

Much has changed in the field of orthodontics over the last decade, from new orthodontic products and techniques to the ever changing advances in technology. Throughout the years, Dr. Godwin and his staff have stayed on the cutting edge of these new technologies to ensure that their patients receive the very best care.  One thing that hasn't changed is the effect that a healthy smile can have on a person’s life.

“It’s always amazing and fulfilling to see what a difference a healthy smile makes in a patient’s overall self-esteem and self-confidence,” said Dr. Godwin.  “It’s why I love what I do.”

Well known for their family friendly environment, Bel Air Orthodontics provides a variety of orthodontic treatment options for children, adolescents and adults from traditional braces to virtually invisible braces and removable aligners.

“It’s not uncommon to have multiple family members in treatment,” says Dr. Godwin. “After the kids have completed treatment, many parents decide that it’s time to give themselves the smile they’ve always wanted.”

According to the American Association of Orthodontics, higher tech options along with the ever increasing pressure to look one’s best are making orthodontic treatment appealing to adult patients. “A healthy bite is as important at age 60 as it is at age 16, and healthy teeth can be moved at any age,” says Dr. Godwin. Statistics show that the number of adults getting braces has climbed 24 percent since 1996.

When asked what he’s enjoyed most about his last ten years at Bel Air Orthodontics, Dr. Godwin replied, “We have the privilege of developing lifelong friendships with our patients and their families. Our practice has grown in large part thanks to their confidence and trust through the referral of family and friends.  My staff and I look forward to celebrating many more years to come with our patients.”

Dr. Godwin received his Doctor of Medical Dentistry from Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Continuing his training at Harvard Dental School, he earned a dental specialty certificate in Orthodontics and a Doctor of Medical Science in the field of oral biology. While at Harvard, Dr. Godwin received numerous awards, including the American Association of Orthodontics Award of Special Merit and the American Association of Dental Research Edward H. Hatton Award. Most recently, Dr. Godwin was recognized by Baltimore Magazine in its selection of “Top Dentists” for 2012. Dr. Godwin was honored to be nominated by his peers for the third consecutive year.
